New Delhi: Dr Ashok Seth, Chairman, Cardiac Sciences, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute has recently been awarded the prestigious ‘Master Interventionalist’ recognition by the Premier Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention (SCAI, the main intervention society of USA).


The award was presented by Dr Kenneth Rosenfield (Immediate past President SCAI) and Dr Kirk N Garratt (President SCAI) at New Orleans, USA. The award comes as a recognition of his excellence in invasive and interventionalist cardiology, which has been manifested by a commitment to the highest level of clinical care, innovation, publication and teaching.


Dr Ashok Seth was given the privilege of performing a live case of bioresorbable stent at ‘Institut Cardiovascularie Sud France’ at the Euro PCR Congress in Paris – biggest intervention meeting in the world.


He was also invited to perform a live case of coronary angioplasty at the Asan Medical Center, Korea to the TCTAP conference in Seoul, which is the largest intervention meeting in Asia Pacific.


Dr Seth is highly acknowledged for his role in development and clinical applicability of the Bioresorbable Scaffold (BRS) Stent. He has pioneered several other angioplasty techniques and devices, such as directional atherectomy, angioscopy, stents, thrombectomy devices and drug eluting stents, use of impella heart support device failing heart and TAVI which have been successfully adopted both in India and other countries in Asia Pacific.

Dr Ashok Seth was honoured with “Padma Bhushan" and "Padma Shri” by the President of India in 2015 and 2003 respectively. Dr Seth has also been the President of the Cardiological Society of India and Vice President of the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology.


He has been honoured with Doctorates from four prestigious universities in India. He has more than 250 publications to his credit in well-known Indian and International medical journals. He has trained more than 350 cardiologists from India and abroad in advance techniques of angioplasty.
