Citing reasons of better opportunities available, or doctor pursuing higher studies, the Labour Minister, Bandaru Dattatreya has recently reported to the Lok Sabha a number of 567 vacant posts for doctors, and 447 specialists working in ESI hospitals as against the sanctioned 829. Thus, leaving 382 posts of specialist vacant. Also, as reported by him exactly, out of the 1,908 sanctioned posts for doctors in ESIC hospitals, 1,341 are filled and rest 567 are vacant.
