The ESIC Model Hospital in Nacharam in the state of Telangana has got a refurbished look for its OPD Block. Unveiling the new look was the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya, in an inaugural ceremony organised recently. The Minister hoped that the OPD would pave way for starting similar services in other ESIC Hospitals, as reported by a local newspaper.

ESIC Hospital is on an innovation embankment in consideration of providing state of the art infrastructural facilities, consultants and specialists, also paramedical staff to the patients. He elaborated on the new initiatives for making the ESI Scheme more vibrant across Telangana State.

The hospital is reported to have already taken an on-ground action to make its service more convenient for the ESI Beneficiaries (Insured Persons and their family members); which includes online availability of their Electronic Health Record. Besides, beefing up facilities for Abhiyan Indradhanush facilities and establishing cancer detection/treatment, cardiology treatment, dialysis facilities, is immediately on the administration radar.

The ESIC Model Hospital is a 200-bedded hospital that was taken over from the State ESI Scheme on August 1, 2002. Housed over 3,4870 sq mts, it cost Rs 195 crores. It provides secondary care treatment, all diagnostic facilities, accident and emergency facilities, operation theatre for general surgery, orthopaedic, obstetrics, gynecology, eye, ENT, immunisation and family welfare facilities to the insured persons and their beneficiaries.  Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, Transport Minister P Mahendar Reddy, Lok Sabha member Ch Malla Reddy, MLC N Ramachandra Rao, Uppal Legislator NVSS Prabhakar and Medical Commissioner, ESIC, Dr R K Kataria were also present on the occasion, as reported by the hansindia.com.
