Fact Check
The claim in the notice is FALSE. FMGE is not going to be held on 6 July 2025. The Medical Dialogues Team has confirmed the veracity of this notice with NBEMS officials who have confirmed it to be FALSE. Further, there is no such notice on the official website of NBEMS.
What is the FMGE exam?
The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), also known as the Screening Test for Foreign Medical Graduates, is a mandatory licensure exam introduced under the Screening Test Regulations, 2002. It is required for Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India who have obtained their primary medical qualification from a medical institution outside India and wish to secure provisional or permanent registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or any State Medical Council after 15 March 2002. Conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the exam ensures that foreign-trained medical graduates meet the standards for practicing medicine in India. Only candidates with a recognized foreign medical qualification (confirmed by the Indian embassy), a provisional pass certificate or degree, and an eligibility certificate (if applicable) are eligible to appear. Upon qualifying, candidates are issued a Screening Test Pass Certificate by NBEMS following biometric and document verification.
Is the FMGE exam scheduled for 6th July 2025?
A notice recently shared on X claimed that 6th July 2025 had been confirmed as the exam date for FMGE July 2025. This particular notice is False. The Medical Dialogues Team has verified with NBEMS officials that the notice is FALSE. Additionally, the Medical Dialogues Fact Check Team found that the FMGE June 2024 exam was conducted on 6th July 2024.
The NBEMS, the official authority responsible for conducting the FMGE, has not released the exam date for the July 2025 session as of April 2025. All FMGE aspirants are strongly advised to refer only to official NBEMS updates for accurate scheduling.
The NBEMS clearly states on the website "This webpage on NBEMS website offers easy access to the Information Bulletin of FMGE, Online application submission weblinks, Guidelines for application submission, Applicant login, Notices related to FMGE published time to time and Results of FMG Examinations conducted by NBEMS."
Further upon research, The Medical Dialogues Fact Check Team found that in 2024, FMGE June 2024 was held on 6th July. This has likely led to the misinterpretation or assumption that the same date will apply in 2025, but no official confirmation exists for 2025.
