Failed Tubectomy: MS Ramaiah doctors booked for Cheating, Criminal breach of trust
Bengaluru: Probe orders have been given by a local court, against MS Ramaiah Hospital and four of its doctors, in case of failed tubectomy that led to a 25-year-old woman become pregnant again
The case is that of 25-year-old woman, who underwent tubectomy at MS Ramaiah Hospital at New Bel road, after delivering her second child. The couple paid Rs 40,000 towards the delivery as well as the tubectomy procedure and she was discharged after doctors informed her that the procedure was a success

However, eight months later, the woman found she was pregnant again. TOI reports that however, when her husband went to the said hospital seeking explanation, he was abused and threatened with dire consequences, prompting him to file an FIR against the hospital and four of its doctors. On further advice, he filed a case of cheating against the hospital with the 4th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court, who in response directed the police to investigate the case
Based on the order, the doctors of the hospital have now been =booked under IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) reports TOI.
"We have asked the petitioner to submit documents related to the allegation. We will summon the accused for inquiry," police informed the daily.
