Fortis Healthcare Q2 profit at Rs 34 crore

Fortis Healthcare reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 33.98 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2015.

The company had posted a net loss of Rs 58.12 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Fortis Healthcare said.

Consolidated total income from operations stood at Rs 1,097.05 crore for the quarter under consideration. It was Rs 1,031.20 crore for the same period year ago.

Commenting on the results, Fortis Healthcare CEO Bhavdeep Singh said: "We have seen a consistent growth in both revenues and operating margins of our hospital and diagnostic business over the preceding quarters."

This is a reflection of an uptick in the business with better overall performance including in the operations of company's newer facilities, he added.

The company during the quarter also increased its equity stake in diagnostics subsidiary SRL Ltd, taking its stake to 57 per cent from 53.9 per cent previously, Fortis Healthcare said.

Shares of Fortis Healthcare today closed at Rs 160.65 per scrip on BSE, down 1.53 per cent from previous close.
