Mapusa: A doctor from the Peddem Hospital located in goa has been booked by Mapusa police for cheating, soon after a complaint was filed against him by the director of health services for persuading a 56- year -old women to undergo a knee replacement surgery.
As reported by The Navhind Times, Sarita Kankonkar was operated by Dr. Sharad Bhat before August 3 at Vrundavan Shalby Hospital, Mapusa for knee replacement after being advised by the said doctor
In this respect, the director of health services Dr. Sanjiv Dalvi on Monday evening filed a complaint against the doctor for cheating the patient as well as on the allegations that the doctor was practicing without being a registered practitioner with the Goa Board of Indian System of Medicine or Homeopathy and nor with the Goa Medical Practitioner Act 2004 , which is an offence under the Medical Practitioner act.
An offence under Section 420 of IPC and sections 3, 5 read with 15 of the Goa Medical Practitioner Act has been registered against the doctor and investigations are underway reports the daily . PI Tushar Lotlikar said that they will summon all doctors, other staff and management of the hospita
