Gurugram: Aiming to reduce the burden of neuro patients on government health institutions, city-based Artemis Hospital on Monday launched its new Neuroscience Centre -- Artemis Agrim -- which is equipped with advanced medical technologies.

According to Artemis Hospital, some of the latest technologies at the new centre include use of navigation in microsurgery for brain tumours and non-invasive techniques, such as CyberKnife Radio Surgery, among others."The minimally invasive techniques in brain tumour treatment minimises the risk and increases the comfort and convenience post neuro procedures. Further, such techniques especially for the spine have brought us to outcomes never seen before after spine surgery," said Aditya Gupta, Director, Neurosurgery, Institute of Neuro Science, Artemis Hospital.

Agrim not only provides treatment but also assumes responsibility for engaging patients and their families in care, for example, through counselling, encouraging adherence to treatment and supporting needed behavioural changes.

"Agrim is the foremost centre to have installed latest biplane DSA and high resolution screens integrated with CT/MR," said Gupta. Doctors at the launch said the new centre will give relief to the neuro patients in the national capital region as currently the All India Institute of Medical Sciences handles 80 per cent of the neuro cases in the national capital and its adjoining areas.
