Patna: Patna High Court today directed Bihar government to file reply informing what action it had taken for the formation of a state-level council for all para-medical personnel.

After hearing arguments on a batch of four public interest litigations including one filed by Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists, a division bench of Patna High Court comprising chief justice Amreshwar Pratap Sahi and Justice Ashutosh Kumar gave the direction to the state government.

The court directed the state government to file a reply in six weeks.

Government pleader Prashant Pratap said that a large number of laboratories running illegally in the state capital and other parts of the state had been shut by the government or authorities concerned had been asked to take necessary action against such laboratories.

Counsel Mohammed Shamimul Hoda appearing for the association said that the state government was providing incorrect figures adding several illegal pathological laboratories were still functioning by blatantly violating rules and regulations.

Earlier, the state government had submitted that there were 213 laboratories in the state capital, out of which only 155 laboratories were running by law.
