Clarifying that only the students whose details have been uploaded on the portal shall be eligible to practice modern medicine in India, the Commission has asked the students to consult the concerned Directorate of Medical Education/ Counselling Authority urgently if their names are not reflected in the list.
The date was further extended to 23.11.2024 for uploading the details of 1st year MBBS students for the academic year 2024-2025. Another extension of the timeline was granted due to a further extension in counselling by the Supreme Court of India. In its order dated 20.12.2024, the Supreme Court decided to extend the last date of NEET UG counselling till 30.12.2024.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that after the SC ruling, NMC granted a last opportunity to the colleges for online submission of MBBS admission details. Even though previously NMC had closed the portal for submitting the required details after 10.12.2024, it decided to re-open the portal for submitting the required details and confirmed that the portal would remain open until 28.02.2025.
However, in the recent notice dated 30.05.2025, NMC UG Board mentioned that some of the colleges did not upload the details of the students admitted in MBBS Course and some colleges uploaded incomplete data.
"Despite issuance of various circulars and public notice, it has been found that total number of 1,15,250 students admitted for the Academic Year 2024-25 and have been uploaded details on the NMC Portal," UGMEB further mentioned in the notice.
Clarifying that only the "students whose details have been uploaded on the portal shall be eligible for registration to practice Modern Medicine/Allopath in India", the UG Board of NMC asked all students to check the list on the NMC portal and ensure that their names are reflected on the list.
"All students studying for MBBS Course and got admission at Graduate Level Medical Education for the Academic Year 2024-25 must go through the uploaded list the same is available on the website of the Commission with the following link to ensure that their names are reflected in the list," read the notice.
"Student who got admission in Graduate Level Medical Education (MBBS) for the Academic Year 2024-25 and their names are not reflected in the list may consult the concerned Directorate of Medical Education /Counselling Authority urgently," it further added.
Referring to the UG Board's notice, the NMC Secretary issued another notice and mentioned, "Reference is invited to Public Notice of even number dated 30-05- 2025 of the Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) requesting all students studying for MBBS Course who got admission at Graduate Level Medical Education for the Academic Year 2024-25, to go through the list available on the website of the Commission via the link provided in the enclosed Notice, to ensure that their names are reflected in the list. Students who got admission in Graduate Level Medical Education (MBBS) for the Academic Year 2024- 25 and their names are not reflected in the list may consult the concerned Directorate of Medical Education /Counselling Authority urgently. All concerned stakeholders are requested to kindly take note of the same."
As per the data shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in April 2025, there are a total of 1,18,190 MBBS seats in India.
