Health Ministry appoints part-time members of NMC, check complete list

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has announced the appointment of part-time members of the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, participated in the appointment process for part-time members of the NMC, Autonomous Boards, and the Search Committee, conducted through a draw of lots.

The procedure of appointments is laid down in the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019. According to the NMC Act 2019, these appointments are made for a period of two years.

The draw included appointments in several categories. Ten part-time members were selected from the nominees of State and Union Territory governments who were earlier part of the Medical Advisory Council. The states and UTs represented in this group include Gujarat, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Chandigarh, and Madhya Pradesh.

Another nine members were chosen from the nominees of State Medical Councils, also drawn from the Medical Advisory Council. These states include West Bengal, Karnataka, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Manipur, and Uttarakhand.

The statement issued by the government in this regard says:

In addition, one part-time member was selected for each of the four Autonomous Boards under the NMC. Dr. Jego Ori from Arunachal Pradesh was selected for the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board, Dr. Santosh Kumar Mishra from Odisha for the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board, Dr. Manish Bansal from Haryana for the Medical Assessment and Rating Board, and Dr. Surinder Pal Singh from Punjab for the Ethics and Medical Registration Board. One expert member, Dr. Sandeep Dogra from Jammu & Kashmir, was also selected for the Search Committee.

Fourth Member of each Autonomous Board (part-time Member) from the nominee of State Medical Council in Medical Advisory Council (earlier appointed in 2022) have been selected.

The draw was conducted in the presence of media representatives to ensure transparency. Senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, including Smt. Nivedita Shukla Verma (Secretary, Additional Charge) and Dr. Vinod Kotwal (Additional Secretary), were present during the process.
