Medical College inspections: NMC Extends Deadline for Faculties to Submit Willingness to Become Assessors

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended the deadline for the medical college faculties to submit their willingness to become an assessor of the Apex Medical Commission by 15 more days.

While earlier the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the Commission had set the deadline till 18.12.2024, now issuing a new notification on 19.12.2024, NMC has extended the deadline by 15 more days (from 19.12.2024).

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that previously highlighting the importance of conducting medical college inspections to ensure and enhance the quality of medical education in India, MARB had further mentioned that it would conduct surprise inspections of various medical colleges and faculties of Government Medical Colleges would be engaged for this purpose.

Issuing a notice in this regard on 02.12.2024, NMC had requested the Dean/Principal of all Government Medical Colleges to share a Google form, provided by NMC, with each faculty who is eligible to become a PG Guide for seeking their willingness to be associated with the Commission for the task of conducting assessment of Medical Colleges from time-to-time.

Now this deadline for the medical college faculties has been extended by 15 more days. Referring to the earlier notice of NMC, MARB Director Arun Kumar Singh issued another notice on 19.12.2024 and mentioned, "Attention is invited to MARB, NMC's Public Notice of even number dt. 02.12.2024 wherein Dean/Principal of Government Medical Colleges were requested to share the Google form with each faculty who is eligible to become a PG teacher for seeking their willingness (within 15 days from the date of publishing on NMC website i.e. till 18.12.2024) to become associated with NMC for the task of conducting inspection of Medical Colleges from timeto-time."

"It is informed that MARB has decided to extend the timeline for filling up the Google Form (Link given below) by 15 more days from the date of uploading of this Public Notice on the website of NMC. Accordingly all the eligible faculty of Government Medical Colleges/Institutions are requested to submit their willingness within the stipulated time line...." MARB further added in the notice.

Sharing the MARB notice, NMC Secretary Prof B Srinivas wrote to the Principal/Dean of all medical colleges/institutes of India. Regarding the issue of the "Creation of Assessor Pool for conducting inspection of medical colleges", the Commission mentioned, "Reference is cited to Public Notice no. N-19011/13/2024-Assessment Cell/8304944 dated 19-12-2024 issued by the Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) on the subject mentioned above as enclosed herewith informing inter-alia about the extension of timeline for filing up the Google Form by 15 more days from the date of uploading of the Public Notice on the website of NMC and submission of willingness thereto. All concerned stakeholders are requested to kindly take note of the same."
