New Delhi: The National Eligibility-and-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025 examination will be held tentatively on 15th June 2025 and the deadline for completing the mandatory MBBS internship may be fixed as 31st July 2025, mentioned a recent communication sent by the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) to the Deans and Principals of all the medical institutes in India.

While there is still no official confirmation from the NMC, the President of the United Doctors Front Association (UDFA), Dr. Lakshya Mittal informed Medical Dialogues that the document is authentic and the same has been confirmed by an NMC official.

Meanwhile, the NMC Secretary Prof B Srinivas has advised the aspirants to wait, further adding that the dates would soon be uploaded on the NMC website or the Twitter handle (NMC_BHARAT).

What does the NMC Communication Say?

As per the NMC's communication sent to the Deans/Principals of all medical colleges/institutes under NMC and Registrar of all Health/Medical institutes, based on the information received from the Universities regarding the issue of holding NEET PG 2025 exam and internship completion deadline, it has been decided to keep the internship deadline as 31st July 2025 and the tentative date for holding the NEET PG 2025 exam is June 15, 2025.

"I am to state that the matter related to holding of NEET-PG 2025 examination and the internship completion date to become eligible for appearing in the examination was considered by the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), under the National Medical Commission (NMC), along with the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). On the basis of information received from the Universities, it has been decided that the internship completion date may be kept as 31st July 2025, and the tentative date to conduct NEET-PG 2025 examination will be 15.06.2025," mentioned the PGMEB communication issued by the Director of the NMC PG Board, C.K.Ramaswamy.

The notice is being circulated amid the growing uncertainty regarding the NEET PG 2025 exam date. Recently, the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released the academic calendar regarding the upcoming examinations. However, it did not mention any dates for the NEET PG 2025 exam. Back then, members of the medical fraternity had mentioned that the official date for the NEET PG exam should be released soon, so that the aspirants get enough time to prepare.

Now, sharing the NMC communication on the NEET PG 2025 date, UDFA president Dr. Mittal wrote in an X (formerly Twitter) post, "The @NMC_BHARAT decision to announce the tentative #NEETPG 2025 exam date (15th June 2025) and internship completion cutoff (31st July 2025) six months in advance is highly commendable. Such proactive steps prevent confusion and ensure aspirants can prepare systematically."
