NMC gives Timeline for completion of approval, disapproval for increase of seats, starting new courses, new medical college and renewals for 2024-25

New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the National Medical Commission (Policy and Coordination Division) has released the schedule for completion of approval/disapproval for the increase of seats, starting new broad specialty & super specialty courses, establishment of new medical college, or renewal of college for the academic year 2024-2025.

Issuing the notice today, NMC has informed about the due date for the completion of the process such as receiving applications for AY 2024-2025 by MARB, conveying the final decision for approval/disapproval by MARB, disposal of all the 1st appeals and 2nd appeals and finalizing the seat matrix for the next academic year.

The time schedule released by NMC revealed that the last date for receiving applications for PG/ Super Speciality courses is 15.09.2023 and for the UG medical seats, the last date is 17.09.2023.

The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) will convey its final decision regarding approval/disapproval by 28.02.2024. All the 1st appeals will be disposed of by NMC by 31.03.2024 and the 2nd appeals will be disposed of by 30.04.2024. As per the notice, the seat matrix for the next academic year i.e. 2024-2025 will be finalized by 15.05.2024.

"In this regard, all concerned authorities and medical colleges are requested to take note of the schedule for taking necessary action. This issues with the approval of the competent authority," NMC stated in the notice.

Disposal of all 1 st Appeals by NMC u/s 28(5) of NMC Act, 2019

Disposal of all 2 nd Appeals by MoHFW u/s 28(6) of NMC Act, 2019

30.04.2024

Finalizing the seats matrix for AY 2024- 25 and verification of the data entered by counselling agencies by the NMC.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that taking note of the fact that several medical colleges or appellants were not following the prescribed procedure for filing the 1st and 2nd appeals before the NMC, the Apex Medical Body recently once again specified the process.

The Commission informed the medical colleges or appellants that all appeals along with relevant documents, may be preferred by Dean/Principal of the Medical College/ appellant to the Commission by addressing to Chairman, NMC via EMAIL ONLY at 'nmc_appeal@nmc.org.in'

Further, NMC also provided a checklist for all the requisite documents that the medical colleges need to submit along with the appeal and the processes that the appellant or college needs to ensure.
