NMC Invites Applications for New MD, MS, DM, MCh Courses Or Increase In Intake

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited applications from concerned authorities and various stakeholders across the country seeking permission for new PG medical broad and Super Speciality i.e. MD, MS, DM, MCh courses or increase in their respective seats for the academic year 2023-24.

The notification to this effect issued under the authority of Dr BN Gangadhar, President of Medical Assessment and Rating Board, calls for the applications for starting of New postgraduate-Broad and Super-speciality courses / Increase of MD/ MS, DM / MCh seats for the academic year 2023-24.

The application window is going to open tomorrow i.e. July 1st and will remain till July 20. The medical colleges seeking upgradation can apply till the deadline through the online portal with prescribed fees with GST.

In its notice, the NMC has listed specific instructions for applicants and directed:

"The college should mention the status of the college in terms of Undergraduate courses, recognition of the existing postgraduate seats in that particular specialty.
The Essentiality Certificate for starting of the new course and Consent of Affiliation (CoA) from the concerned university with correct nomenclature and number of seats shall be submitted along with the application."

The medical institutes have been directed to follow the current postgraduate regulations gazetted as on date.

Postgraduate Medical Education in broad specialities shall be of three years duration in the case of degree course and two years in the case of Diploma after MBBS and in the case of Super specialties the duration shall be of three years after MD/MS.
