NMC invites eligible faculty from Govt medical colleges to join assessor pool for inspections, details

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has initiated the process for the creation of an Assessor Pool to conduct inspections of medical colleges across the country.

In this regard, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has invited eligible faculty members from Government Medical Colleges and Institutions to express their willingness to serve as assessors for upcoming inspections.

According to the official communication dated December 26, 2025, the move follows a public notice issued earlier on December 22, 2025, wherein MARB outlined plans to begin inspections for the Academic Year 2026–27. These inspections will cover applications related to Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) medical courses, as well as any additional inspections deemed necessary by the Board.

The Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) carries out inspection of Medical Colleges in accordance to the MARB Regulations made under NMC Act 2019. "It is to intimate that MARB will start the inspection process in due course for Academic Year (A.Y.) 2026-27 for various UG and PG applications for which faculty from various Government Medical Colleges will be engaged as Assessors for conducting the inspections. The same group of assessors may be used for any additional inspections conducted by MARB other than UG and PG applications," the notice read.

The inspection of medical colleges is a crucial activity for ensuring and enhancing the quality of medical education in India. Since, NMC would be conducting surprise inspections of various medical colleges the willing faculty of your esteemed Medical College will be engaged for this purpose.

The travel time for the inspections, as well as the day of inspection, will be treated as on duty. The travel and lodging expenses and renumeration will be borne by the NMC.

Accordingly, all the eligible faculty of Government Medical Colleges/Institutions are requested to give their willingness through the above google link within 15 days from the date of this notice.

"In view of the above, you are requested to share the below mentioned Google form with your faculty who are eligible to become a PG Guides (refer Section 5 of TEQ-22 and Section 16 and 17 of Medical Institutions (Qualifications of Faculty) Regulations, 2025 ) for seeking their willingness to become associated with NMC for the task of conducting inspection of Medical Colleges from time-to-time. It will be the responsibility of all Dean/Principals of all Government Medical Colleges to share this communication with each eligible faculty by way of personal circulation and displaying on College Notice Boards. Further, it is to be noted that the pool of assessors may also be used as experts for evaluation/scrutiny of documents/report w.r.t. medical colleges," the NMC notice to Deans and principals of medical colleges stated.
