NMC Withdraws LoP issued to Dr YSR Govt Medical College as State cites Inadequate Infrastructure
New Delhi: The Medical Assessment and Rating Board of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has withdrawn the permission granted to Dr. YSR Government Medical College for 50 MBBS seats after the State Government informed the Commission that the institute did not have adequate infrastructure for the upcoming students.
Through its notice, withdrawing the Letter of Permission (LoP) granted to the medical college for the academic year 2024-2025, the Apex Medical Commission has asked the Director of Medical Education, Andhra Pradesh not to allocate any student to this college.
"In view of the aforesaid request of DME, Andhra Pradesh, Medical and Assessment Rating Board (MARB), NMC has decided to withdraw the Letter of Permission (LoP) dated 16-08-2024 issued to Dr. YSR Government Medical College Pulivendula for the Academic Year (A.Y.): 2024-25 . Accordingly ,the Letter of Permission (LoP) dated 16-08-2024 issued to the College is hereby withdrawan with immediate effect," read the communication issued by NMC to the Dean/Principal of the medical college and DME Andhra Pradesh.
"The DME ,Andhra Pradesh is requested not to allocate any student to this college," it added.
Dr. YSR Government Medical College Pulivendula had submitted its application for establishment of new undergraduate medical college for the academic year 2024-2025. After the decision taken by the First Appeal Committee of NMC, MARB granted the LoP to the medical college on 16.08.2024 for establishment of new medical college with 50 MBBS seats.
Meanwhile, NMC received a letter dated 10.09.2024 from the office of the DME, Andhra Pradesh stating that Dr. YSR Government Medical College Pulivendula was not in a position to offer the infrastructure facilities completely for the upcoming students, due to delay in th execution of works.
Informing this to the Commission, DME Andhra Pradesh requested NMC not to consider admissions in this academic year. Accordingly, writing to the medical college head and the State DME, NMC Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) informed its decision of withdrawal of letter of permission to the medical college.
Referring to the communication issued by MARB, the Secretary of NMC, Dr B Srinivas issued a notice on 11.09.2024 stating, "Reference is invited to letter no. N-22011/21/2024- AssessmentCell/MARB (e-8276336) dated 11-09-2024 (copy enclosed) of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) on the subject mentioned above, the contents of which are self- explanatory. All concerned stakeholders are requested to kindly take note of the same."
