Himachal Pradesh plans to start homoeopathic out patient departments (OPDs) in the ayurvedic hospitals in major towns, state Ayurveda Minister Karan Singh said on Monday.

Special clinics for senior citizens would also be started in all the 12 districts with focus on diabetes, hypertension, joint diseases and prostatic health, he said at the International Convention on World Homoeopathy Day organised at Vigyan Bhavan here.

The minister said homoeopathic medical officers would be involved in public health initiatives and treatment camps in schools and 'anganwadis' or government-run childcare and mothercare centres.

He put forth plans to strengthen the Ayush services in the state.

He said the government was going to introduce the Siddha medicine along with special attention on yoga and Sowa Rigpa, the traditional Tibetan medicine.

The convention was inaugurated by Ayush Minister Shripad Yesso Naik.
