According to the complaint lodged by the woman, she felt betrayed after the medico refused to marry her.

When Deccan Chronicle talked to the officials regarding the matter, police said that 'The woman complained that medico had promised to marry her and developed physical intimacy with her. When she asked for marriage, he has been postponing the matter and recently told her that they are cousins and cannot marry."

According to a judgment of Delhi high court, "entering into a sexual relationship with a woman after making her a false promise of marriage amounts to rape."
