Insurance firm puts on hold suspension of hospital under health scheme
Panaji: United India Insurance Company Ltd restored empanelment of Manipal Hospital here with a health scheme launched by the Goa government.
Two days ago, the Central government-run insurer had temporarily suspended the empanelment of the premier medical facility from the Deen Dayal Swasth Seva Yojana (DDSSY).
The temporary suspension of Manipal Hospital as a provider of benefits under DDSSY had affected several patients who were approaching the facility for treatment.
Based on a letter sent by the hospital, United India Insurance has put the suspension on hold.
"Based on your letter dated December 01, 2017, we put on hold the temporary suspension and permit you to continue admitting or honouring the patients under the DDSSY scheme till further notice from this office," the insurance firm told the hospital in a communication today.
The insurance firm on December 1 temporarily stopped the hospital, which has a facility at Dona Paula near Panaji, from providing services under the scheme.
A notice issued by the insurance company had said during an audit, "anomalies" were found in implementation of the scheme at the hospital.
United India Insurance had sought an explanation within 15 days and asked the hospital not to take patients under DDSSY till further notice.
The scheme envisages providing quality medical care and treatment of diseases, hospitalization and surgery through government and private hospitals.
