Intensivist arrested for sexually assaulting a patient

Mumbai: A DnB senior resident doctor, working in the intensive care unit at the Dr Balabhai Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a patient, six months ago. The said doctor has been booked under section 376C (d) of the India Penal Code, which concerns rape by a doctor.
This came after a complaint was filed by a 28 year old patient who alleged that the doctor (name withheld) had assaulted her during her stay at the hospital. The patient had been admitted to the hospital on June 5 this year, after overdosing on sleeping pills, the police confirmed to Mumbai Mirror. She alleged that the doctor assaulted her, putting his finger in her vagina on the pretext of examining her.
