J&K: Kashmir welcomes establishment of AIIMS

Srinagar: The residents and doctors fraternity of South Kashmir hailed the decision taken by the Central Government to establish an AIIMS hospital at Jammu and Kashmir's Awantipora.

Kashmir valley has only one Super Specialty Hospital Sher-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar and with this new AIIMS hospital in South Kashmir patients will get better medical facilities at their doorstep.

The Government of India has projected an amount of Rs 4000 crore under Prime Minister's package for setting up of two AIIMS, one each in Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
