Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N.Vohra terminated the services of 100 doctors who had been unauthorisedly absent from duties.

An order issued by the state health and medical education department said exercising powers conferred under clause (B) of rule 21 (1) of J&K Civil Services Classification, Control and Appeal Rules, 1956 the state government had terminated the services of 100 doctors who had been unauthorizedly absent from duties.

The decision is seen as a significant move by the state government to improve healthcare services in the state.

The doctors whose services were terminated had been unauthorisedly absent from their places of posting as most of them are believed to serving outside the state and the country while retaining lien on government jobs in the state on one pretext or the other.
