Kerala doctors on strike after suspension of colleague

Thiruvananthapuram: Following the death of a media person, Rejimon, a news cameraman with Mathrubhumi Television channel, and the subsequent suspension of the treating doctor of the deceased, government doctors in Kerala have gone on a flash strike protesting the action against their colleague.
The case goes back to 27th october where Rejimon (32) was admitted to the hospital after he complained of uneasiness and later died. The District Unit of Kerala Union of Working Journalists alleged that Rejimon died due to negligence on the part of hospital and sought an enquiry into the matter. Government while ordering the enquiry, suspended the lady doctor who had attended to the patient.
In response to the said move, Doctors of the General Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram here went on a flash strike on Wednesday protesting suspension of a lady doctor for alleged medical negligence. The doctors abstained from OPD services. Health Department said it could not arrange alternative facilities as the strike was launched without prior notice reported Manoramaonline.
