Kerala : Student of Medicine Commits Suicide in Hostel Room

Kulasekaram,Kanyakumari: B.Parithi Semmal,  a Dalit final year student of Sree Moogambika Institute of Medical Sciences is alleged to have  committed suicide in his hostel room on Wednesday.The medical college is based in  Kulasekaram,  Kanyakumari.

According to the police,  the student took his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his hostel room in the evening. Parithi, a bright student of the college had been seen moving around with his friends earlier in the evening and was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan by them later the same evening. Their attempts to revive the boy on discovering his body proved futile.

According to The Hindu, Parithi Semmal was in the middle of his exams and was supposed to be appearing for a practical examination on Wednesday. He had already appeared for three theory examinations of the college. His friends during an investigation by the police revealed that Parithi was on medication for depression.

The dead student's body was taken for a post mortem to Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital (KGMCH). His father refused to comment. The police at Kulasekaram  have registered a case under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
