Kolkata: The city police investigating the alleged extortion and medical negligence by Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals in connection with Sanjay Roy's death last month has summoned private hospital's two top officials, including vice-chairperson and HR, to depose before the Phoolbagan police station on the VIP Road.

Sources said the vice-chairperson, whose station is Chennai, has already arrived in the city and is expected to appear before the investigating officers by this afternoon.

Ruby Roy, the widow of Sanjoy Roy, filed an FIR with the Phoolbagan police station, alleging extortion and medical negligence on the part of Apollo Hospital leading to death of her 30-year-old husband.

Sanjoy Roy breathed his last on March 23 at the SSKM Hospital, few hours after being shifted from Apollo hospital, which delayed about five hours to release the patient of accident victim after ensuring deposition of FDs and other fund certificates to clear dues.

The Kolklata police earlier quizzed several medics and hospital staff, including the DGM corporate affairs and the head of HR department.
