PM gets in support with Jamia University VC about a new medical college at the campus
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a meeting with Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Najma Akhtar on Wednesday, came in support to set up a new medical college at the university.
During the meeting, PM expressed his willingness for the setting up a medical college at the campus and even agreed to attend next convocation as Chief Guest.
In the Indian Express, she stated that this was their second meeting and that they had discussed the setting up of a medical college two years back as well.
Akhtar told TOI "We have been writing to the education ministry about the setting up of a medical college and now the ball is in their court. The interaction with the PM was extremely positive. He said that it will be a good move if a medical college can be set up and that he'll see what can be done. We have already sent a proposal to the ministry but they haven't responded yet. So first the government has to give the permission and then we can move ahead with the structure and other modalities."
