Maharashtra: Breach Candy plans for expansion, review action to be held in November
Mumbai: Breach candy, one of the most renowned hospitals in the state is ready for an expansion aimed to cope up with the increasing footfall that the hospital gets. The expansion will be done after dipping an old 35,000 sq ft MRI building within its premises to only construct another multistory one.
The review for the expansion will be done on 2nd November 2016 by the state coastal management authority, reports Mumbai Mirror. The plan is under processing at the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation for various clearances.
Confirming to the expansion, Harsh Goenka, the chairperson of the hospital stated that the plans of hospital authorities have been passed by the board of directors in agreement. He added, “Yes, we are expanding. We are going vertical.”
In yet another elaborate confirmation of the same, Breach Candy’s chief executive officer, N Santhanam quoted that the decided to be replaced building with the new one is a ground-plus-two structure in the hospital complex, which will now be mowed down to make way for the multi-storeyed building that will probably be equipped with more beds and facilities to aid footfall of patients.
Santhanam added that it is not yet decided by the hospital that what would be the total estimate of the installation of extra beds in the new building. The decision regarding the inclusion of Incentive Care Units and Operation Theatre in the building is also not yet clear that it will be done or not.
At present the existing hospital is holding 212 beds. It is quoted according to the statistics that the hospital remain 100 percent occupant for most of the year, while the waiting period for bed across all the specialties in the hospital remain unchangeably two to three days.
The expansion will aid patients as well as doctors in speedy and convenient treatment facilities.
This expansion streak has come in the wake of three top hospitals including Bhatia, Nanavati and Asian Heart coming out with their plans for capacity hike to cope with the increasing demands for healthcare within the city.
Another expansion has come to light with state-run JJ Hospital constructing a 20-storeyed tower to house its super-specialty wing.
