MCI approves 8 new medical colleges in India in May,2015

The Medical Council of India, in it’s the executive committee report released on 13th May, 2015, has approved the establishment of 8 medical colleges in the country. The Executive Committee of the Council considered the compliance verification assessment report, reviewed by the council assessors. After carefully reviewing the assessment report, MCI has decided to recommend to the central government to issue letter of establishment to these colleges. This development is likely to add 1100 Seats to facilitate MBBS education in India.

The list of colleges includes:

  1. Gadag, Karnataka by Government of Karnataka-150 seats

  2. Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar by U.T Andaman & Nicobar Administration- 100 seats

  3. New medical college at Juhu, Mumbai, by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai-150 seats

  4. New medical college at Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh by Government of Uttar Pradesh with an annual intake of 100 students

  5. New medical college at Himmatnagar, Gujarat by Gujarat Medical Education & Research Society, Gujarat with an annual intake of 150 students

  6. New Medical College at Junagadh, Gujarat by Gujarat Medical Education & Research Society, Gujarat with an annual intake of 150 MBBS students

  7. New medical college at Koppal, Karnataka by Government of Karnataka with an annual intake of 150 students

  8. New medical college at Gulbarga, Karnataka by Govt. of Karnataka with an annual intake of 150 students
