MCI BOG introduce Amendments to Disability Rules for MBBS, invite Comments

New Delhi: Providing a policy-making say to candidates who are denied pursuing their dream of entering the medical profession on account of their disabilities, the Medical Council of India Board of Governors MCI BOG) have put forward in public domain, the new amendments to the disability rules for MBBS admissions and invited comments. Comments can be sent to secy-mci@nic.in and ug.mci@nic.in within 15 days that is upto 30th November 2018 for further consideration in the matter.
Medical Dialogues team has extensively reported to the setback that persons with disabilities have been facing when it comes to MBBS admission. Even the last MBBS admission session saw a series of petitions being filed before various courts including the apex court in the country, calling the MCI guidelines arbitrary, discriminatory and also standing in violation of the Disabilities Act. The court, including the SC were seen being openly critical of the MCI Disability rules, repeatedly setting them aside to grant MBBS admissions to candidates.
