MCI Gazette spells out Mandatory Information to be uploaded on Each Medical College Website

New Delhi: Moving towards an environment of greater transparency in the field of medical education, and to facilitate easy information availability to the medical students about the medical colleges where they are planning to pursue their MBBS education, the MCI has now made some information to be compulsorily made available on the official website.
Incorporating the same, The Board of Governors in Supersession of Medical Council of India (MCI) recently came out with a gazette notification. With the gazette, important information such as the details Dean, Principal and Medical Supdt. including their name, qualification complete address with telephone and STD code, fax and E-mail, Teaching as well as non-teaching staff, details of MBBS and PG Medical Seats will have to be made public and regularly updated once a month on the official website of the medical colleges. Besides this, other information such as research publications during the last one year, details of CME programs,Details of any awards and achievement received by the students or faculty will also have to be updated on the medical colleges website
Bringing the policy to effect, the MCI BOG have made the respective amendments to the “Minimum Standard Requirements for 50 MBBS Admissions Annually Regulations, 1999”, “Minimum Standard Requirements for 100 MBBS Admissions Annually Regulations, 1999”“Minimum Standard Requirements for 150 MBBS Admissions Annually Regulations, 1999”
Under Schedule –I of the said regulations namely – ‘ACCOMMODATION IN THE MEDICAL COLLEGE OR MEDICAL INSTITUTION AND ITS ASSOCIATED TEACHING HOSPITALS’, Sub-heading ‘B-Teaching Hospital’, ‘B.1 – General Remarks’, Clause 11 shall be substituted as under: “B.1.11
a) Details of Dean, Principal and Medical Supdt. including their name, qualification complete address with telephone and STD code, fax and E-mail etc.
b)Teaching as well as non-teaching staff.
c) Details of the sanctioned intake capacity of various Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses.
d) List of students admitted merit-wise category-wise in MBBS and Postgraduate courses for the current and previous academic sessions.
e) Any research publications during the last one year.
f) Details of any Continuing Medical Education programmes, conferences and/or any academic activities conducted by the institution.
g) Details of any awards and achievement received by the students or faculty.
h) Details of the affiliating University and its Vice-Chancellor and Registrar.
i) Results of all the examinations of last one year.
j) Detailed status of recognition of all the courses.
k) Details of clinical material in the hospital.

Each and every college /institute shall have its own website wherein a hyperlink shall be made available as ‘Information under MSR Clause B.1.11’ on the Home page of the Website, which shall contain the following details in the form of sub links, to be updated in the first week of every month: -
a) Details of Dean, Principal and Medical Supdt. including their name, qualification complete address with telephone and STD code, fax and E-mail etc.
b)Teaching as well as non-teaching staff.
