Aortic stenosis (AS) is a common valvular heart disease, with an estimated overall prevalence of 3% in adults over 75 years. Aortic stenosis is the most frequent, single, native left-sided valve disease comprising of 43%. Aortic stenosis is the most common primary valve lesion requiring surgery or transcatheter intervention and its prevalence is rising rapidly as a consequence of the ageing population.

Now, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery guidelines have covered the evaluation parameters, the diagnostic workup involved, the indications for intervention- be it either TAVI or the Surgical AVR procedure and about the medical therapy.
