CCPA slaps Rs 3 Lakh fine on VLCC for Misleading Weight-Loss Ads

Cracking down on misleading claims in the beauty and wellness industry, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has fined VLCC Ltd. Rs 3 lakh for advertisements promoting fat-loss and slimming treatments using the USFDA-approved CoolSculpting procedure/machine.

In a statement on Saturday, the Department of Consumer Affairs said the penalty has been imposed on VLCC "for publishing misleading advertisements regarding fat-loss and slimming treatments through the use of the US-FDA-approved CoolSculpting procedure/machine."
