The overall prevalence of GERD in India ranges from 5% to 28.5%. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) play a crucial role in pharmacological therapy for the treatment of GERD. NAB is the Presence of intragastric pH of less than 4 during the overnight period for at least 60 continuous minutes in patients taking a proton-pump inhibitor (PPI). According to a survey 8 of 10 GERD patients on PPI, still experience nighttime symptoms.

He has been conferred with various accolades including the Young Surgeon’s Award by Japan Surgical Society (1995), Best teacher award by Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University and many more. 

Dr Manoharan is currently practicing in the Gastro care clinic in Teynampet and Apollo Spectra Hospital Chennai and is a Visiting Professor, at Dept of Surgical Gastroenterology, Dhana Lakshmi Srinivasan Medical College, Perambalur, Tamil Nadu.
