India reports over 1.79 lakh new cases; Omicron tally crosses 4k-mark

Fever Caused By Post-Caesarian Infection: Consumer Court Directs Hospital, Gynecologist To Pay Compensation, Medical Expenses

A district Consumer court at Ranga Reddy had directed a Gynecologist and a Narsimhanagar-based hospital to compensate for alleged medical negligence, where the doctor allegedly left fluid and blood pieces inside a patient who had been admitted for the delivery of her baby.
This resulted in infection and the patient had continuous fever for some time. When the Complaint approached the Consumer Court, the Commission took note of the Ultrasound Scan report of the whole abdomen, which mentioned, ""after delivery, the stomach was not completely cleaned and fluid and blood pieces were found, due to which infection was caused'.

NEET PG Counselling 2021 To Begin In 2 Days

Ending the anticipation of the commencement date for NEET PG Counselling 2021, the Union Health Minister has recently stated that the counselling process by MCC will be starting from January 12th 2022.
The confirmation to this effect was shared by Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya via a tweet. "NEET-PG counselling is being started by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) from January 12, 2022, following the order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, as assured by the Ministry of Health to the resident doctors. This will give more strength to the country in the fight against Corona. My best wishes to all the candidates," the minister had tweeted in Hindi.

The legal coordination committee for government doctors in Tamil Nadu recently presented their demands to the state health minister Ma Subramanian on Friday demanding pay-hike and Covid relief.
They stated that the government should increase the compensation amount paid to doctors who died of Covid from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore. They added that they would organize a protest on January 19 if their demands are not met by next week, reports DT next.

5. India To Become Hub For Covid-19 Antiviral Generic Drugs: Fitch
Covid-19 management has been a difficult war for both scientists and doctors, however research centers like Fitch Solutions have been a helpful aid in managing them.
India will become the largest global hub for Covid-19 antiviral general drug production after the drug controller granted emergency-use authorisation to several pharmaceutical companies in the country to manufacture and market generic versions of molnupiravir, Fitch Solutions said Friday.
Increased access to molnupiravir will keep hospitalisations and deaths in India to a manageable level as Omicron infections rise, Fitch Solutions said in a report.
