India reports 3.37 lakh new cases, Omicron tally rises to over 10,000

Covid-19 continues to rise admist all measures taken in containing the spread. In the last 24 hours ending at 9 am on Saturday India reported 3.37 lakh (3,37,704) new Covid-19 cases, 9,550 lower than yesterday.

 Delhi and Mumbai continued to witness a dip in Covid cases on Friday, 5,008 single-day cases, respectively. While the Positivity rate declined to 18.04 % in the national capital, Mumbai saw daily cases dipping for the third day in a row. 

Health Ministry Overturns NMC Decision For Medical MScs

Non medical teachers are equally qualified and efficient in teaching the aspiring medicos. Providing major relief to the non-medical teachers with medical MSc/Ph.D. qualifications, the Union Health Ministry has altered the National Medical Commission's decision and has decided the apex medical regulator to follow the erstwhile Medical Council of India's rules for appointing non-medical teachers.

With this, non-medical teachers will be able to join as faculties in five non-clinical specialties to 30% extent (50% for biochemistry) of the total number of faculties- like older rules of MCI.

Health Ministry overturns NMC decision for Medical MScs 

 MCC Allows Hybrid Mode Of Reporting For NEET PG Counselling Candidates 

The Medical Counselling Committee, MCC of DGHS, has informed about the allowance of hybrid mode of reporting for NEET PG Counselling candidates in view of ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases across the country as per a new notice.

The Counselling body has clearly stated in its notice that keeping in view, the prevailing adverse situation of COVID pandemic, MCC/ MoHFW has decided to allow candidates of PG Counselling 2021 for HYBRID MODE OF REPORTING i.e Candidates who have been allotted seats by MCC in PG Counselling 2021 can report in both ONLINE/ OFFLINE mode at the allotted college.

 Drug-Makers To Add Fixed Drug Eruption (FDE) In The Package Insert Of Doxycycline : CDSCO Panel

Doxycycline is popularly used to treat bacterial infections. The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) functional under the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has recommended that CDSCO may request State Drugs Controllers to direct the manufacturers of Doxycycline to include drug associated Fixed Drug Eruption (FDE) in the package insert of the drug.

Fixed drug eruption (FDE) is a well-defined, circular, hyperpigmented plaque that recurs as one or a few lesions always in fixed locations upon ingestion of a drug. FDE commonly occurs on the genitals, lips, trunk, and hands.
