NMC relief: Displaced MBBS students in Manipur allowed to avail online classes, study via hybrid mode
Offering an exceptional relief, the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has allowed displaced medical students in Manipur to continue their studies online or through the hybrid mode.
Students belonging to institutes including RIMS, JNIMS, CMC, and SHIJA Medical College have been granted permission by the Apex Medical Commission to have online classes and /or on hybrid mode at Churachandpur Medical College (CMC), Manipur.

Families of only 30 percent of doctors who died due to Covid-19 received compensation till 2023, reveals RTI
In response to a Right to Information query asking about the total Covid martyrs compensated under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP), the New India Assurance Company has revealed that the families of only 475 doctors out of 1596 have been compensated under the scheme so far.
This was revealed by the authorities in response to an RTI application filed by Kannur-based ophthalmologist and RTI activist Dr K V Babu. Based on the data, it is clear that only 29 per cent of doctors' families have received the compensation, indicating that around 71 per cent of families of healthcare workers are still waiting for their compensation under the scheme.

Media posts claiming biology not required for NEET UG misleading
Social media posts claiming that medical aspirants are no longer required to study Biology to appear in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) are not factually correct.
Referring to the recent revision in the NEET Eligibility criteria, which has been introduced by the National Medical Commission (NMC), these posts claimed that students without Class 12 can still become doctors.
