589 Postgraduate Seats Approved in 27 Colleges After NMC Review
With the addition of 171 postgraduate seats based on the National Medical Commission's decision on the appeals by medical colleges, taking the total seats after the approval to 587 in 27 medical colleges.
Speciality-wise, the total number of MD Anaesthesiology seats at these 27 medical colleges has now become 109 seats. Further, based on the decision of the Appeal Committee, there are altogether 2 seats each in MD Anatomy, and MD Community Medicine, 23 seats in MD Dermatology, Venerology and Leprosy, 8 seats in MD Emergency Medicine, 144 seats in MD General Medicine, 5 seats in MD ImmunoHaematology & Blood Transfusion, 2 seats in MD Microbiology, 43 seats in MD Paediatrics, 6 seats in MD Pathology, 2 seats in MD Pharmacology, 2 seats in MD Physiology, 10 seat in MD Psychiatry, 8 seats in MD Respiratory Medicine, 110 seats in MD Radio-Diagnosis, 3 seats in MD Sports Medicine, 63 seats in MS General Surgery, 33 seats in MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 6 seats in MS Ophthalmology, and 8 seats in MS Orthopaedics.
No Evidence of Govt Officials’ Involvement in NEET 2025 Scam: CBI
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has informed a special court in Mumbai that its probe into the alleged NEET 2025 admission scam found no involvement of officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA) or any other authorities.
The investigation revealed that the scam was limited to private individuals who allegedly promised medical aspirants admission to government medical colleges in exchange for large bribes by falsely claiming they could influence exam scores.

HC rules denial of NOC to in-service doctors for sponsored DNB admissions arbitrary and unjustified
In a recent judgment, the Orissa High Court slammed a clause in the 2022 policy of the Odisha Government, which barred in-service medical officers from obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for admission to Sponsored DNB courses.
Granting relief to an in-service doctor, Dr. Jamadar, who was refused the NOC solely based on the nature of admission, the HC bench comprising Justices Manash Ranjan Pathak and Mruganka Sekhar Sahoo observed,

WB Medical Council accused of Corruption and Medical Negligence as 95 per cent of complaints dismissed
Alleging that West Bengal Medical Council (WBMC) is involved in "unlawful and unethical activities", a social services organisation, has urged the Chief Minister and Health Minister of the State to intervene.
On the 25th anniversary of the organisation- People for Better Treatment, an open public rally was held recently in front of the Medical Council office, and Dr. Kunal Saha, the President of PBT, led the rally alongside 'victims of medical negligence.'
