SC holds Orthopaedic Surgeon guilty of performing surgery on wrong leg

Upholding the order of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) finding a surgeon liable for medical negligence while conducting surgery on the wrong foot of a patient, the Supreme Court recently dismissed the appeal filed by the doctor.

Challenging the NCDRC ruling, the concerned doctor, who worked as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Fortis Hospital in 2016, filed a plea before the Supreme Court.

Rajasthan doctors urge Govt to increase posts, hold recruitment after NEET PG counselling

Highlighting the shortage of doctors in State Government facilities, including primary healthcare centres, Rajasthan doctors have urged the Government to increase the number of medical officer posts.

Further, the All Rajasthan MBBS Doctors' Association pointed out how the officers leave their posts after being selected for postgraduate medical education. Therefore, it has requested the Government to fill up the vacant posts after the completion of the National Eligibility-and-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) counseling.

HC denies relief to PwD MBBS candidate, says courts can only assess expert disability reports

The Delhi High Court bench recently clarified that courts can interfere with the medical opinion of the Medical Disability Board/Disability Assessment Board only when such reports lack clarity regarding detailed reasons.

"It is apparent that in case there are sufficient reasons contained in the medical opinion of the Medical Disability Board/Disability Assessment Board, the Courts may not interfere. Only when the said Medical Report lacks clarity in terms of detailed reasons, would the Court examine such Medical Reports," noted the HC bench comprising Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela.

NEET PG 2025 to be Tentatively Held on 15th June 2025, Check more details here

The National Eligibility-and-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025 examination will be held tentatively on 15th June 2025 and the deadline for completing the mandatory MBBS internship may be fixed as 31st July 2025, mentioned a recent communication sent by the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) to the Deans and Principals of all the medical institutes in India.

While there is still no official confirmation from the NMC, the President of the United Doctors Front Association (UDFA), Dr. Lakshya Mittal informed Medical Dialogues that the document is authentic and the same has been confirmed by an NMC official.
