NMC finalises NEET 2024 Syllabus

Providing clarity to lakhs of aspirants who are preparing to appear in the centralized MBBS entrance examination, the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has now finalised and released the syllabus for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) examination-2024.

Composer AR Rahman and Association of Surgeons of India enter into defamation battle

Composer AR Rahman and the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) have entered into a legal battle with both parties issuing notices to each other and demanding public apologies for defaming them. While the Indian musical composer and record producer, A R Rahman has served a defamation notice of Rs 10 crore against the association for tarnishing his reputation and defaming him, the ASI has countered with a legal notice of Rs 15 crore accusing Rahman of defaming the doctors and medical association.

What to mention in signboards, visiting cards, announcements, and prescriptions? NMC do's and don'ts for doctors

In its first publication of an e-book titled "Professional Conduct Review - Lessons from Case Archives", the National Medical Commission (NMC) has laid down the do's and don'ts on what to mention in the signboards, visiting cards, announcements and prescriptions.

While stressing that doctors should not mislead the public through signboards, visiting cards, announcements etc., the NMC has mandated that doctors should not use an unusually large signboard and write on it anything other than their name, qualifications, titles, specialty or registration number. The commission further directed that the prescription papers should also have the same contents.

Doctors, hospitals liable for medical negligence only when failing to meet competency standards: Consumer Court relief to doctor

The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Punjab, Chandigarh, has set aside a District Commission's order against Garg Hospital and its doctor, observing that medical practitioners and hospitals can be held liable only if their actions fall below the standards expected of reasonably competent professionals in their field.

The District Commission's order had directed Garg Hospital and its doctor to compensate Rs 28,500 for alleged negligence, improper treatment and charging exorbitantly from newborns admitted to Garg Hospital on being referred by Rajiv Hospital without the consent of the newborn children's parents.
