NEET 2023: NTA reopens application window, details

The registration window is open from 11.4.2023 till 13.4.2023 up to 11.30 pm. The last date for receiving fees online is 13.4.2023 up to 11:59 pm.

NTA has received representations from the candidates to open the registration window again for applying for NEET (UG) – 2023 as they could not complete their registration due to various unavoidable reasons. In view of supporting the students’ community, it has been decided to reopen the registration for receiving online application forms.

Controversy over stem cell therapy: NeuroGen gets interim relief from NMMC deregistration notice, health officer faces action

A court of the Public Health and Family Welfare Ministry has now provided interim relief to Seawoods-based Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute by staying the deregistration notice issued to the institute by Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

Apart from issuing a stay against the concerned deregistration notice, Public health minister Tanaji Sawant slammed Dr Pramod Patil and cancelled his deputation to NMMC as the medical officer of health (MOH). Besides, the institute has also sought to file an FIR against Dr Patil.

Using a specially designed robotic system that mimics the mechanics of human breathing and vaping behavior, researchers showed that commercially available e-cigarette liquids containing menthol generate a greater number of toxic microparticles compared to menthol-free juice. An accompanying analysis of patient records from a cohort of e-cigarette smokers revealed that menthol vapers took shallower breaths and had poorer lung function compared to non-menthol smokers regardless of age, gender, race, pack-years of smoking and the use of nicotine or cannabis-containing vaping products.

Anaesthesia overdose: Mumbai Hospital, Anaesthesiologist, Orthopaedician held guilty of medical negligence, slapped Rs 12 lakh compensation

Denying any relief to the Mumbai-based hospital, its Orthopaedician and Anaesthesiologist from the charges of medical negligence, the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has upheld more than Rs 12 lakh compensation to the family of a senior citizen patient, who did not regain consciousness due to excessive use of anaesthesia during surgery.

In its order, the top consumer court ruled that though negligence was attributable to the anaesthesiologist who passed away a few years ago, the hospital shall not be absolved from vicarious liability. Moreover, the orthopaedician, who was leading the procedure, has been directed to pay his share of the compensation as – “before proceeding to surgery, he was supposed to be careful to ascertain proper pre-anaesthetic check-up and fitness report,” stated the NCDRC.
