Mumbai sees three-fold rise in measles

Mumbai has seen a three-fold rise in measles cases this year in comparison to 2019. 37 measles cases were reported in 2019 and this year the number has already reached 109, according to BMC data.

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease. Despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine, measles remains an important cause of death among young children globally, and can also lead to serious adverse outcomes such as blindness, pneumonia and encephalitis.

Uttarakhand: Divya Pharmacy asked to stop production of 5 medicines

Dehradun, Uttarakhand Ayurveda, and Unani Licensing Authority has asked Divya Pharmacy to stop the production of five medicines and produce their revised formulation sheets for approval. Divya Pharmacy manufactures Yoga guru Ramdev's Patanjali products.

According to the notice issued on Wednesday, Bpgrit, Madhugrit, Thyrogrit, Lipidom tablets, and Eyegrit Gold tablets are being promoted as medicines for blood pressure, diabetes, goitre, glaucoma, and high cholesterol.

AIIMS likely to conduct NEXT Exam 2023

The NExT exam scheduled for December next year will likely be conducted by the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS New Delhi. A decision on the matter is yet to be taken. The information to this effect was shared by the official sources to the News agency ANI.

The sources further informed that the National Medical Commission (NMC) is going to release a notification on the National Exit Test (NExT). "The notification regarding the National Exit test (NExT) is expected soon... It is a crucial decision that has been taken up by the government on the NExT. The exam is scheduled to be conducted in December next year," they said.

1139 seats available for round 3 DNB post diploma counselling

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has released the Indicative Seat Matrix for Round 3 admissions to the DNB Post Diploma courses 2022 Admission Session.

According to the seat matrix, a total of 1139 seats are available for DNB Post Diploma candidates.

The maximum number of seats are in the speciality of Anaesthesiology with 372 seats, followed by Orthopaedics with 167 and Paediatrics and Radiodiagnosis with 166 seats each.

Mandatory family medicine department in each medical college: Kerala HC tells state to decide

Pulling up the state government on the lack of Family Medicine doctors in the state as well as the absence of a mandatory department of family medicine in all medical colleges, the Kerala High Court has directed the state health Ministry to dispose of the matter in the next two months.

Kerala High Court directed the Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to dispose of the plea filed by The Social Health One Health Movement Charitable Trust within two months in the matter of the creation of the mandatory department of family medicine in all medical colleges, filling of the posts in Family Health Centres only with doctors who have received specialized training in Family Medicine, i.e., MD/DNB/Diploma in Family Medicine and to provide adequate in-service training to the doctors appointed in Family Health Centres in Kerala in the field of family medicine.
