NMC specifies process to be adopted for renewal, recognition of PG medical qualifications

Listing the requirements in detail, the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC), has specified the process to be adopted for the renewal/recognition of PG medical qualifications.

The process was mentioned by NMC PG Board in the minutes of the meeting held by the PGMEB on February 7 2023, a copy of which is with Medical Dialogues team. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President of PGMEB, Dr. Vijay Oza. Apart from Dr. Vijay Oza, the president of PGMEB and Dr. K. Senthil, the Part-time member of NMC PG Board, Mr. Aujender Singh, Deputy Secretary (PGMEB), Ms. Rita Singh, US (PGMEB) and Mr. Pramod Pant, Sr. PPS were also present in the meeting.

Newborn dies after delivery in govt hospital toilet, probe ordered

A panel of doctors is examining an allegation that a newborn died Wednesday after being delivered in a toilet at a government hospital when the staff refused to admit her.

The family claimed that the newborn fell into the toilet during delivery, and could not be pulled out in time.

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ashwini Kumar, however, claimed that the birth — or stillbirth — happened in the toilet but denied allegations that the hospital refused to attend to the woman in labour.

NMC recognition to 150 MBBS seats at RMLIMS Lucknow for 5 years

After objecting to granting recognition to Lucknow-based Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), the National Medical Commission (NMC) has finally granted recognition for 150 MBBS Seats to the institute.

This happened after the Chief Minister of the State, Yogi Adityanath intervened. The NMC Recognition is valid for five years and after that the institute will be required to apply for renewal.
