ICMR issues advisory for preventing H3N2 influenza

Union Health Ministry is keeping a close watch on the Seasonal Influenza situation in various States/UTs through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) network on a real-time basis.

The Ministry is also tracking and keeping a close watch on morbidity and mortality due to the H3N2 subtype of seasonal Influenza. Young children and old age persons with co-morbidities are the most vulnerable groups in the context of seasonal influenza.

For the prevention of H3N2 influenza, ICMR has also issued an advisory.


NMC approves 83 PG medical seats in 11 specialties at Sri Venkateswara Medical College

Bringing good news to the medical aspirants in Andhra Pradesh, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its permission for 83 additional postgraduate medical seats in Sri Venkateswara Medical College (SVMC), Tirupati.

Confirming this, the Principal of the medical college, Dr PA Chandrasekharan has informed the Hans India that these additional postgraduate medical seats have been added in the eleven specialty and super-specialty departments.

Orthopaedic surgeon held guilty, told to pay Rs 20 lakh compensation for performing plastic surgery procedure resulting in amputation

Holding a Jaipur based Orthopaedic Surgeon negligent for performing plastic surgery on a patient suffering from a burn injury, the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) recently directed the doctor and the hospital to pay Rs 20 lakh compensation to the patient.

Due to electric burns, gangrene formed in the body of the patient and his left hand below elbow, along with right trans-metatarsal and left symes had to be amputated.

15-year-old in Nagpur watches YouTube videos, performs own delivery, kills baby

In a shocking incident, a girl aged 15 years delivered a girl at her house in Nagpur, Maharashtra after watching YouTube videos and killed the newborn, police said on Sunday.  According to a police official, she was sexually abused by a man she met on social media.
