Central Govt full stop to doctor-pharma nexus- Curtails MR visits in Govt hospitals

Putting an end to the unholy doctor pharma nexus aimed at unethically promoting and prescribing certain pharma brands, the Union Government has completely curtailed the visits of pharma company Medical Representatives (MRs) to Government Hospital premises. Besides this, the Government has strictly stipulated that information about any new launch should be communicated via email.

The direction came in the form of a recent office order issued by Dr Atul Goel, Director General Health Services (DGHS) and the Central Government Hospitals/CGHS Wellness Centers/ Polyclinics.

National Exit Test will soon be mandatory for Council registration of all new doctors: NMC gazette

As soon as the National Exit Test (NExT) becomes implemented by the National Medical Commission, it will be mandatory for both Indian and Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) to clear this exam to obtain a temporary or permanent registration.

However, until then, the "licence to practice and prevailing system of Registration shall continue", NMC has stated in the recently released guidelines titled "Registration of Medical Practitioners and Licence to Practice Medicine Regulations, 2023".

5% MBBS, BDS Seats reserved for govt school students in Madhya Pradesh

Amending the Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Admission Rules 2018, the State Government has allowed reservation of 5% MBBS and BDS seats for the students of government schools.

According to the amendment, this reservation of 5% seats will be applicable for both the government and private medical and dental colleges. Further, the State has reserved three percent each of total MBBS and BDS seats in government colleges for freedom fighters and Army candidates.
