Heart-related ailments on the rise in youth; avoid stress, urge doctors
Nowadays, heart-related ailments are on the rise in youth. The study claims that most affected individuals have few or no symptoms, while others develop serious complications like heart failure, arrhythmias and sudden death in extreme cases.
"Over time, the incidence of cardiac issues in younger population has increased. It can be pinned down to lifestyle changes which includes lack of exercise, eating habits and ofcourse stress," Dr S B Gupta, consultant physician cardiologist Asian Heart Institute and former head department of medicine and cardiology, Central Railway said.

Delhi State Commission holds no medical negligence in ESWL procedure, exonerates Ganga Ram Hospital, Urologist
The Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission recently exonerated Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and its Urologist Dr Chaddha from charges of medical negligence while performing Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL).
Taking note of the fact that the sole basis of the complaint lied on the fact that the treatment was not successful, the Commission gave clean chit to both the hospital and doctor and observed, "In the present case also, the only allegation against the Opposite Parties is that the treatment given by them was not successful, for which the Complainant had to consult another hospital (RG Stone) for the removal of the Kidney Stones. However, this alone cannot be a ground for holding the Opposite Parties liable for Medical Negligence since sometimes despite the best efforts, the patient may not favourably respond to a treatment given by doctor, due to which the treatment of a doctor may fail."

19-year-old student dies post-Covishield, Parents seek Rs 1 crore compensation
A 19-year-old postgraduate student allegedly died due to the aftereffects of the compulsory administration of the Covishield vaccine, the Kerala High Court sought a response from the centre to a plea filed by the parents seeking Rs 1 crore as compensation from the government.
As per a media report in the Live Law, the petitioners moved the Kerala High Court demanding justice, seeking Rs 1 crore as compensation for the death of their only daughter.

Private Hospitals reluctant to provide booster dose
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has directed that people who have received their second dose more than nine months ago and are falling in the 18-60 age group are eligible to take a paid booster dose at any private facilities starting April 10. However, Himachal Pradesh's private hospitals are not showing interest and have not made any decisions yet.
The private hospitals have yet to decide whether or not to give the service but the majority are adamantly against the decision to provide booster doses to the public.
