1,537 fresh coronavirus cases were reported in Delhi on Tuesday with a positivity rate of 26.54 percent, as per the data shared by the city government’s health department.


CPS Admissions Row: HC Directs state to provide all documents to institute for show-cause reply

While considering the matter concerning admission to the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPS) courses, the Bombay High Court directed the State on Monday to provide all documents to CPS so that it can answer the show-cause notice issued by the Medical Education Department of the State.

Directing the State to provide the documents, the HC bench of Justice Gautam Patel and Justice Neela Gokhale has listed the matter for further hearing on April 26, 2023.

Limited Internship Seats, Thousands Of FMGE Graduates Facing Uncertain Future

Even after clearing the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), MBBS graduates from abroad are facing difficulties to get themselves enrolled for the mandatory two-year internship programme in India.

Due to the scarcity of adequate Internship seats, around 2000 such FMG doctors are facing an uncertain future as they will not be able to register/ practice in India without completing the mandatory internship rule of the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Overdose of Anaesthesia during appendicitis surgery: Doctor booked under IPC 304 A

A doctor at a private hospital in the Ram Raipur area of Uttar Pradesh has been booked in a case of alleged medical negligence where a young man had died during appendicitis surgery due to an overdose of anaesthesia. The authorities sealed the hospital and its director was slapped with a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh.

The patient died back in November last year and now a case has been registered under section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the doctor and other staff members

Padma Shri Indian American Oncologist Dr Dattatreyudu Nori appointed senior adviser of Sloan Kettering Centre in India

Top Indian American oncologist Dr Dattatreyudu Nori has been appointed senior advisor to the Chennai centre of the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from New York.

Observing that the opening of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from New York in India – the first of its kind outside the United States -- “is a big deal,” Dr Nori said getting treatment of and consultations on cancer from the world’s best cancer institute would not only save a large number of lives but will also help increase awareness in the fight against the deadly disease.
