Proposed: NMC to conduct NEET UG exam

The National Medical Commission (NMC), the apex medical regulator of the medical field, may soon itself take the charge of conducting the 'National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test" (NEET, NEET UG), the gateway to various graduate medical courses in India, including MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BSc Nursing courses.

A Proposal to this effect has been put forward National Medical Commission as it released the draft of the National Medical Commission (Graduate Medical Education) Regulations of Undergraduate Medical Education Board, 2023 in the public domain for comments.

Draft regulations released by NMC for establishment of new medical colleges, assessment, rating, increase of seats

Spelling out the criteria for setting up medical colleges and their standard monitoring, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has released its draft on the Establishment of Medical Colleges and Medical institutions, Assessment and Rating and Increase of Seats for Medical Education Regulations 2023.

The apex medical regulator has put forward the proposed draft regulations in the public domain inviting comments from various authorities and stakeholders.

NPPA fixes retail price of 74 formulations

Through a recent notification, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizer, the Government of India has fixed the retail prices of the 74 scheduled formulations including those used to lower the levels of triglycerides in blood, to prevent heart attack and stroke, to treat high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

Delhi Medical Council suspends Anaesthetist for issuing fake medical certificates

Taking action against a Dwarka-based Anaesthetist for issuing fake medical certificates, the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) has suspended him for one year.

The fake medical certificates, issued by the concerned doctor, had been used by the accused for obtaining interim bail from the Delhi High Court. After the Delhi Police informed the Medical Council about the matter, DMC initiated the investigation.
