Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) interns at ESIC Medical College, Bhita, Patna have been struggling with an eight-month delay in stipend payments, despite repeated appeals to authorities.
The interns, who have been awaiting their stipends since July 2024, have yet to receive their entitled amount of Rs. 30,070 per month, as per the memorandum issued by the Ministry of Labour and Government of India on October 30, 2024.
A team of doctors at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar, have successfully conducted a rare and complex surgery to remove a cancer-affected portion of the lung in a 45-year-old woman.
The patient, who had been experiencing persistent symptoms and coughing up blood, was initially misdiagnosed with tuberculosis at another hospital.

Altogether 19 posts are lying vacant in four autonomous boards of the National Medical Commission (NMC), the Union Minister of State for Health Smt Anupriya Patel informed the Rajya Sabha recently. These vacant posts include the posts of Presidents of the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), and the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB).
Besides, the posts of two whole-time and two part-time members each of the NMC UG and PG Board, Medical Assessment and Rating Board and NMC Ethics Board are also lying vacant.

Following the Delhi High Court verdict, the Delhi government has ordered the takeover of the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) from Delhi University.
Delhi's health and family welfare department issued an order on March 18 formalising the transfer, stating that all assets, staff and financial control of the UCMS will now be under the city government, reports PTI.
