NMC Tightens Regulations on PG Medical Courses With Revised Norms and New Requirements
The Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) issued amendment to the Minimum Standards of Requirements for Post-Graduate Courses 2023 (PG MSR 2023) and asked all medical colleges and institutions across the country to comply with the updated rules with immediate effect.

The Delhi High Court has directed that candidates who were allotted seats in the Stray Vacancy Round (SVR) of NEET PG 2025 but did not join cannot be treated as ''ineligible'' for Sponsored Post MBBS DNB (SPMD) counselling, holding that mere allotment does not amount to ''pursuing'' a postgraduate course.
Allowing the writ petitions, the Court set aside communications dated March 5 and 6, 2026, issued by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), and permitted the petitioners to participate in the SPMD counselling process, subject to forfeiture of their security deposit.

Hyderabad Authorities Bust Illegal Samosa Unit, Used Cooking Oil Seized
A large-scale illegal food unit preparing samosa under highly unhygienic conditions was busted in Hyderabad by the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team along with Kulsumpura Police on March 20, 2026. The raid in Jiyaguda revealed that the unit, operated by Abdul Rasheed, lacked mandatory approvals such as FSSAI licence, a trade licence, and fire safety clearance.
Officials found the use of spoiled ingredients, including stale boiled eggs and repeatedly reused cooking oil, posing serious health risks to consumers, reports NDTV.
Authorities seized adulterated food, raw materials, and machinery worth around ₹5 lakh, including large quantities of prepared items and ingredients like maida and sweet corn.
